Introduction

Hello, welcome to my private practice 👋! My practice is currently working with individuals through invitation ✉️ only, if you would like an invitation please go to my contact page to learn more.

My name is Susan Elizabeth Hamori, what led me down this path was my severe gastrointestinal (GI) issues which I pretty much had since birth but became worse when a dog ripped off my scalp at age 4 & was given a large dose of antibiotics. It’s been a long and complex journey but I have learned a lot and hope to support others along their own unique journeys.

Some of My Credentials:

  • B.S. in Nutrition with a Natural Health & Pre-Med focus from Bastyr University
  • M.S. in Human Nutrition & Functional Medicine from UWS (The Functional Medicine training was integrated by the leaders in functional medicine; The Institute for Functional Medicine [IFM])
  • Licensed in the state of WA, but can practice in other states as well
  • Can practice medical nutrition therapy (MNT) in CA & other states.
  • Currently, working on becoming board-certified as a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS). CNS is the most advanced certification for science-based personalized nutrition. F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Functional Medicine?

This video is from the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), they do a great job giving a snapshot on how functional medicine is practiced (IFM integrated the functional medicine training I received in my graduate education).

How I view functional medicine is evidence based, focused on the underlying causes of chronic diseases, & a strong foundation in functional & clinical nutrition; hence, the degree I have in Human Nutrition & Functional Medicine since you can’t really practice functional medicine without functional & clinical nutrition. Also the father of Functional Medicine, Dr. Jeffery Bland, is a well renowned nutrition/health researcher & was part of the board of certified nutrition specialists (CNS) for a decade (the same board certification I’m working towards).

Board Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS)?

The Certified Nutrition Specialist® credential (CNS®) is the most advanced certification for science-based personalized nutrition. It's focused on clinical & functional nutrition (the father of Functional Medicine, Dr. Jeffery Bland, was part of the board of directors for a decade). It’s also the top alternative board certification accepted for licensure in many states. If you would like to learn more about the scope of practice of a CNS click here.

Clinical Nutritionist?

Yes, I’m able to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) in the state of CA and many other states.

Here is how the CNS scope of practice defines MNT, “There is no universal definition of MNT (definitions vary by state), it often refers to the provision of nutrition care services for the management or treatment of a medical disease or condition.”

Are you an in-network provider?

I’m currently not, but I am open to providing a superbill if you have out-of-network coverage. Please review your insurance coverage before requesting a superbill.
